Art Comepetitions 2024:

Dear students & parents:

  • Please understand every art competition is very subjective and depends on what the styles are current juries like.
  • If you don’t win the prize, it does not mean that you are not good at painting, but you can try it because we should not miss any chance to win, so we encourage all the students to enter the art competitions every year.
  • Basically, each competition will be held at a similar time and date every year. We may not remind you every time, so please remember the following dates so that you can continue to participate in the future.

Wild At Art

  • For 5 – 12 years old, Entry is free
  • Create an original artwork of one of Australia’s many threatened native animals or plants, along with a short written component on their chosen threatened species.
  • ENTRY DATE: Wild At Art 2024 will run from 17 June to 12 August.
  • Nearly 6,800 children participated in this competition. The judges are not simply looking for works that display outstanding technical skills. They will be looking for surprising or interesting interpretations and compositions, and work that demonstrates an emotional connection with the species.

Mitcham Community House

  • For 1 – 12 years old, free to entry, open to all students in Australia.
  • ENTRY CLOSING DATE: Not started yet, but probably around May – June
  • All artworks must be submitted in person to the Mitcham Community House office.
  • 1-2 awards each in the following categories: Preschool (up to 4yrs old), 5-8yrs & 9-12yrs

The Spencil Art Prize

  • For 1 – 13 years old
  • Free to entry, but once enter you agree organizer has the right to use the artwork for commercial purposes like marketing, promotions, product design and so on. (royalty-free license)
  • There will be only two winners in total, one of each in the following categories: (1) 8 years of age and under and (2) 9 to 13 years of age.
  • Picture only, you don’t need to deliver artwork
  • ENTRY CLOSING DATE: 7th May 2024

The Doyles Art Award- Junior Awards- from QLD

  • For 5-17 years old, Entry fee is $15 per artwork
  • ENTRY CLOSING DATE: 24th May 2024 by 5:00 pm
  • Online entry with artwork picture, only the finalist needs to post artwork to QLD before 21 June 2024 ( finalist works must be framed and ready for hanging with cord or wire, Junior artists have the option to list their work for sale. A 15% commission will be charged on all junior category sales.)

Singleton Art Prize- from NSW

  • For 8-18 years old, Entry fee $10 per work
  • All paintings are for sale, sales will incur a 30% commission fee from sale price.
  • ENTRY CLOSING DATE: Monday 17th June 2024
  • Artwork must be posted to enter the competition, addressed to: PO BOX 348 SINGLETON NSW 2330 and arrive no later than Tuesday morning 23rd July 2024 and cost of return post included with work.

  • You can join as many as you want, if students would like to enter any art competitions above, welcome to discuss it with teacher Miss Jian.

 

  • After discussion, if need to create new artwork for competitions, highly recommend students prepare and finish their artwork at home. After finishing a part please take a photo or bring it to the classroom to let Miss Jian check it.

 

  • If needed, we can special let students prepare the artwork in the art class, but please understand they probably will spend many lessons on it, especially for the detailed painting processing.
  • Please read all the competition information carefully,
  • Parents are asked to assist in making sure your child understands all competition requirements,
  • Please help your child check that they meet all requirements and help them enter the competitions before the deadline, thank you.
